Genesis GV60 – Last week I drove the spectacular Genesis GV60 electric SUV. And WOW what a car. The GV60 is exclusively an all electric SUV only.
The GV60 comes in two versions, the All Wheel Drive and the Performance All Wheel Drive which we drove.
First impressions is that the GV60 is particularly stylish from the outside with coupe like lines and even better inside.
Genesis is continually redefining affordable luxury boundaries for premium brands.
Inside are some really cool features such as digital mirrors, fingerprint recognition and 12.3 inch driver instruments and central touch screen.
The GV60 comes with a 77.4kWh battery and the performance pack some 360 kilowatts of power and 700 newton metres of torque. This will give sub 4.0 second 0-100kmh times.
Performance does come at the expense of range but still the GV60 is good for 450km plus on a full charge.
It will also recharge at an ultra rapid charging point in about 18 minutes from 10%-80% charge.
Genesis if offering a choice of either a 5-year Chargefox subscription or a home A/C charger and install, included in the GV60 purchase price from $103,700 plus the usual costs.

The first dedicated electric vehicle from Genesis arrived in Australia in September 2022. GV60 redefines mobility through its advanced long-range, rapid recharge battery-electric technology.
Luxurious, zero-emission GV60 delivers scintillating performance and a driving range of 470km (AWD variant), with the capability for ultra-rapid charging – from 10 to 80 percent in just 18 minutes.
Striking, coupe-like GV60 is smartly packaged around the EV-specific E-GMP architecture to provide a spacious and inviting interior that benefits from clever design elements such as a compact dash, flat floor, floating console and slim seats.
GV60 is offered in highly equipped AWD and Performance AWD variants with an extensive standard Genesis Active Safety Control suite and futuristic technologies such as fingerprint recognition and digital mirrors, which replace physical side mirrors with cameras.
GV60 is available in Australia now alongside Electrified G80 and the Electrified GV70.

GV60 Exterior
The athletic, coupe-like GV60 SUV applies the Genesis ‘Athletic Elegance’ design identity to a game-changing high-performance electric vehicle.
A lowered Genesis-signature Crest Grille works with a striking twin-lamp headlight treatment to create an instantly recognisable visage while accommodating the cooling requirements of the dedicated EV platform.
A Genesis-first clamshell bonnet design creates a sleek impression by merging the bonnet and fenders and is adorned by a new wing emblem featuring an intricate Guilloché pattern.
The absence of undercuts and character lines gives GV60 a seamless style, with muscular bulges and a broad stance creating a confident visual presence.
Digital side mirrors, which replace the side mirrors with cameras, along with flush automated electric door handles complete GV60’s minimalist look.
GV60’s sleek silhouette is underlined by a long, 2900mm wheelbase with short overhangs, for an athletic wheels-at-the-corners stance – featuring alloys in 20-inch for AWD and 21-inch for Performance AWD.
A chrome daylight opening begins at the top of the windshield and flows to the rear with a distinctive V shape, creating dynamism and underlining GV60’s unique style.
Completing GV60’s dynamic and distinctive style are a fixed wing rear spoiler and brand-signature twin-lamp taillights.
A choice of thirteen exterior colours is offered, to let every customer create their own unique GV60.

The new São Paulo Lime and Hanauma Mint are unique to the GV60.
Genesis-signature shade Atacama Copper makes its debut on GV60. The matte variant of Atacama Copper is a unique formulation that feels more like a raw copper than conventional matte paints.
GV60 Interior
The design of GV60’s interior incorporates a Korean architectural philosophy that emphasises the ‘Beauty of White Space’ to create a minimalist, spacious and comfortable cabin.
Headlining the innovative design is a Crystal Sphere drive selector. When GV60 is turned off, the Crystal Sphere functions as a mood light, enhancing the cabin aesthetic. When GV60 is ready to drive, the sphere rotates to reveal a futuristic and convenient Shift-By-Wire (SBW) selector.
The Crystal Sphere is located on a console that appears to be hovering, creating an enhanced feeling of openness and working with design features such as the compact dashboard, slim seatbacks and flat floor to maximise interior space.
Next-generation infotainment merges the cluster and navigation into a panoramic display to provide outstanding usability while creating a high-tech look.
Completing the luxurious feel is the application of circular embellishments throughout GV60’s cabin, featured on the Crystal Sphere, the horn cover, the door handles, and the side mirror controllers.
The use of low environmental impact materials throughout GV60’s cabin is in line with Genesis Motor’s commitment to sustainable mobility, and includes headlining, pillar and sun visor fabrics manufactured using recycled PET & recycled nylon yarn.
GV60 is available with a choice of quilted Nappa leather, or Nappa and Suede without quilting (Torrent Navy), upholsteries and aluminium trim garnishes.

GV60 Motor and drivetrain
GV60 is the first Genesis vehicle built on the EV-specific Electric-Global Modular Platform (E-GMP) which gives brings a choice of AWD and Performance AWD powertrains.
GV60 AWD is equipped with a 160kW motor for its rear wheels and a 74kW motor for its front wheels, which provide a total output of 234kW and maximum torque of 605Nm.
GV60 Performance AWD combines 180kW front and 180kW rear motors to deliver a total output of 360kW when utilising Boost Mode, and maximum torque of 700Nm.
Both variants feature a 77.4kWh battery which provide a driving range of 470km (WLTP) per charge for the AWD variant and 466km (WLTP) per charge for the Performance AWD variant.
An efficient rear-wheel-biased e-AWD system features a Disconnector Actuator System (DAS) that can separate or connect the front motor and the drive shaft according to driving conditions. The system lets GV60 seamlessly switch between RWD and AWD to maximise efficiency through the reduction of transmission losses.
By adjusting the level of regenerative braking (and rate of deceleration) via the steering wheel-mounted paddle shifters, the driver can minimise the use of the brake pedal for a further efficiency improvement.
In addition, GV60’s Smart Regenerative Braking 2.0 system can automatically optimise coasting efficiency by adjusting the amount of regenerative braking in three stages, based on the speed of the vehicle ahead, following distance, and navigation map road sign data such as a change of speed limit.
GV60’s i-PEDAL regenerative braking mode enables a single-pedal driving strategy that allows acceleration, deceleration and stopping of the vehicle using only the accelerator.
A Boost Mode instantly increases the maximum output of GV60 Performance AWD models to deliver an even more dynamic driving experience.
The Boost Mode button on the steering wheel activates the additional performance for 10 seconds and enables GV60 Performance AWD to accelerate from zero to 100 km/h in 4.0sec (4.6sec without Boost Mode).
An Active Sound Design (e-ASD) system provides a choice of virtual driving sounds through GV60’s speakers, synced to the vehicle speed and accelerator inputs.
A choice of three sounds includes a ‘Futuristic’ sound that symbolises the direction of future mobility, a soft and sporty ‘G-Engine’ sound that’s based on engine noises, and an ‘E-Motor’ sound, which reimagines the electric motor sounds.
“My” Drive Modes
The GV60 features three selectable “My” Drive Modes; Eco, Comfort and Sport. The different modes change the character of the vehicle, adjusting the engine, steering, ESC, suspension and E-LSD

Battery & Charging
GV60 applies a 400/800V multi rapid charging system that boosts the 400V supplied by the charger to 800V, to enable stable and rapid charging with various charging infrastructures.
When charging at 350kW with the ultra-speed charging function, the battery can be charged from 10 percent to 80 percent in just 18 minutes.
Both interior and exterior Vehicle to Load (V2L) functions makes GV60 a mobile power source that can charge other electronic devices from its battery. The V2L function supports a 3.6kW power supply, to give customers the freedom to use electricity wherever they go.
GV60 is the first model to feature a battery conditioning function that maintains the battery at the optimal temperature.
The battery conditioning function can preheat the battery to secure better performance when the ambient temperature is low, as well as reducing charging time by ensuring optimal battery temperature.
The system functions in concert with the infotainment system. For example, it can optimise battery conditions at the same time as searching for a fast-charging station using navigation.

Genesis GV60 Safety
