Pollution from cars has been part of a volatile, even vitriolic debate.  The UK has made a tough decision for now.  David Brown calls for a long-term stable approach

In the UK, Prime Minister Boris Johnston has called for a ban on new car sales of petrol, diesel and hybrid cars by 2035.

There are many reasons to move quickly to sustainable transport fuels even if you don’t believe in global warming.  Local pollution, fuel security, and jobs and growth in emerging technologies. Recent research suggests that dust from your bakes is a pollution problem.  Electric cars use their brakes less.

My concern is that the we will go on debating with huge swings based on short term electoral expediency. We need a managed plan not political stabs in the dark. Nonetheless, there is great value in moving and moving quickly.
